Got this from my buddyKen Etchells (62) today.
Sadly, our high school classmate Glenn Bandow passed away earlier today after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. I met Glenn in the mid-50s at the Downtown Phoenix YMCA where our parents took us every day in the summers. In the 6th through 8th grade we attended summer camps at the YMCA Camp in Prescott. We later met up in the Fall of 1958 when most of us were starting high school at Scottsdale High before Arcadia High opened. We remained friends the rest of our lives. We were roommates for a while before I married and Glenn was my best man. Glenn had many lifetime friends including Will Mueller and Virgil Greer, both Kachina Elementary School and 1962 Arcadia grads.Glenn was one of the funniest guys you could meet. Everyone spent many years laughing at his jokes and pranks. Most of all though he was a good guy and loyal friend that would do anything for anyone. He was very generous in so many ways and just a warm fun person to be around. He was often the life of a party. Glenn’s father was the head of Salt River Project when we were very young and got many of us our first good paying jobs.I’ve missed him since he first became afflicted with Alzheimer’s 6 or 7 years ago. I’ll continue to think of and enjoy our many memories and good times forever. Rest in peace now my friend.Hope all of you are doing well in these difficult times and stay safe. My best to all.-Ken Etchells602-550-5878
