About Me:
I have been a professional educator for over 30 years. I completed my BA in Education at ASU, and earned my M.Ed. and Ed.D. degrees from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. I began my teaching career in special education and have taught grades 1-6. I have had many administrative/leadership roles throughout my career including elementary principal, special education director, director of a private school for the deaf, coordinator of a Professional Development School (PDS) program in the Madison District affiliated with ASU-West, and teacher education lecturer at ASU-West. Courses I have taught include action research, classroom instruction and management, curriculum organization, technology integration in the K-12 classroom, classroom assessment, and the student teaching capstone seminar. Since my second "retirement" in May 2007, I have been involved in many educational technology projects related to Web 2.0 and best practices for technology integration in schools/universities. I am currently on the AzTEA Board of Directors (AZ Technology in Education Association). My most recent project is co-hosting a technology show on the internet for educators every Saturday morning to help them learn about new technologies they can use in their classrooms. If you'd like to check it out, information is available here: http://live.classroom20.com/

My passion is continuing to explore all of the latest technology innovations and social networking opportunities for engaging students/teachers in powerful interactive learning experiences, and to share these resources with other educators. Retirement has provided me with time to spend with family, home projects, reading, getting together with friends, and most of all, playing with all of my technology tools.

Favorite Memory from Arcadia
My years at AHS represent some of the happiest memories in my life. I'm convinced that being a part of the opening of the new school opened doors and gave me opportunities I would never have had. The self-confidence I gained and great education prepared me well for my career in education from being a cheerleader to being a great speller. :-) Singing in the All-State Chorus was also a fantastic highlight. Cheering for a championship football team was a definite highlight! But mostly I remember and value the feeling of belonging and the fun of being in school with friends from our neighborhood (and no more long bus rides to Scottsdale High.)

Traveled somewhat both personal and on business. I actually got to fly around the world on one trip for HP. Now married to a German woman and we go to Germany and Switzerland every couple of years.

Hi Peggy,

The Classes of 64 and 65 have a party coming November 5, 2016.  They have extended their invitation to any member of the classes in the 1960's. www.arcadia6465.com has the information.  Jim Gillard (63)

Hi Peggy. I taught American History for the first 20 years Arcadia was opened and then moved over to Coronado to take over the Advanced Placement History program there. I've just finished writing a new book and have been sending it out free to former Arcadians who are interested. Please pass the word.

Hi, Peggy!

Thanks for allowing me into the group. I didn't see 1964 as a graduation date, but I FEEL as if I attended Arcadia in the glory years, having transferred from San Diego just six weeks into my freshman year, in 1960. Stayed till the end of my sophomore year, then graduated in 1964 from SHS.

I recognized some names and faces here--Michael Evans, Tom Farmer, and more. Did you and I know each other through theater? I'm embarrassed to ask, for I'm sure I'd recognize you in person.

Looking forward to being an active participant and getting reacquainted.

Best regards to everyone from beautiful Houston, Texas

Hi, Peggy!  I reconnected with Linda Thompson Stewert a few months ago.  We were talking about a possible 50-year reunion.  Can't believe next year will be 50 years!  Dang!  Do you know if there is anything planned?

Peggy, Do you know how to access a member's email from our site? Charles tried to explain it to me and I can't get it to work. I am trying to get Betsy Hodges Storey to sign up. Thanks, Nancy

Peggy, I didn't notice the screw up in spelling your name until after I sent it. Oops, sorry.

Prggy, what a pleasant surprise to learn of another "sister" in Sweet Adelines (once one, always one :>). You can find me on sceniccitychorus.com. We will be going to our Regional competition in March here in Chattanooga, TN area. We placed 2nd last year in small chorus & 5th overall. Great to hear from you. Sherrill.
