Arcadia High School Glory Years

Arcadia Glory Years 1960-1963 High School Reunion

was talking to mike solveskey yesterday about heart attacks, i just had one, and mike said yes he had a couple of heart proceedures in the last few years.  was shocked at the list of my friends who have passed, and thought better stir the pot before im gone. we all need to give charles emmery a big hand for this great web site. it seems since i was twenty ive been gone from arizona, im thinking of moving back to the sedona area where i could once again be a artist. if i leave alaska , ill have to sell my airplanes, boats, and stuff i dont need anymore, and that will be a sad day. i retired once in 95 and went to mexico and opened a couple of art gallerys in puerto penasco sonora mexico , rocky point.  it was great fun, until the narco traffic wars began, and i have a 11 year old daugther who was a prime kidnap target, so we moved back to alaska. ive had a full, fun, exciting, dangerous, interesting life. i still look back at my years at arcadia high school and think how lucky i was , what a great group of people we had for teachers and what a great student body. how lucky we were to have lived during such a golden time, a time of great prosperity, a fairly carefree time in america. to all who were my friends i salute you and miss you all. our teams, teachers, coaches i guess this september will be the 50 the aniversery of our graduation at aracadia high. i got a old year book, of course my kids didnt believe that we went to school with stephen spielberg, but it was great fun to look at everybody 50 years ago, now i dont recognize anybody. god bless all of you, ill think of you when im on my boat reeling in 80 lb king salmon, 150 lb halibut, dodging grizley bears, hunting moose, and trying to keep from crashing my airplane. fred rhoades

Hi Fred,

Thank you so much for posting this update! It was great hearing about your adventures since you left Arcadia and AZ and what a fabulous life you've had! I left AZ for a number of years but returned in 1983 and don't plan to leave again. I love AZ in spite of our very hot weather in the summertime! If you return to Sedona you will be in the perfect place for your art talents!I wish you would post some recent photos from your life, family and art work here on the website. I would love to see them!

You are so right about "stirring the pot" before it's too late. I feel so sad every time I hear that we have lost another classmate! I wish we could get more of our "glory year" friends to join this group so we could get their updates. I started this website right after our last reunion in 2003 because I really wanted for all of us to have a way to stay connected. I invited Charles to co-moderate the list with me because he has done such an amazing job of staying in touch with people and sharing their stories back with all of us. Unfortunately, Charles is in very poor health due to his ongoing struggles with cancer and is no longer able to be a moderator on the site. I'm sure he would love to hear from any of you who would like to contact him. His email address is: <cae@wideopenwest.com> and his wife, Ludmila, has been checking his emails.

I know that many of our classmates are not really technology users or Facebook users, but for those of you who are, please invite any of our Glory Years classmates you communicate with to join us here on this website to share their photos, stories, memories and updates.
