I went from Arcadia to Cal Western in San Diego, played basketball and learned to surf, returned to Scottsdale in 1970 (couldn't ride a shortboard) and taught English/coached hoops at Chaparral HS for 28 yrs. Divorced with 2 great kids, I now live at the beach in Leucadia, CA, ride my longboard almost every day and travel to Baja (real Baja--past the El Rosario bridge 225 miles south) every chance I get. When there's no surf, and it's sunny without wind, I attach a milk crate type box(which holds all my equipment--rods/reel/lures/fishing license)to my board, paddle out to the kelp beds and fish. Otherwise I'm reading or walking my dogs, Duke Kohanomoku and Rell Sunn

Favorite Memory from Arcadia
It was great to hear the fight song! I just remember all the cool people who were Arcadia Titans. It really was the best time, and best place, to grow up.
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you,but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on ( josephmclaughlin500@gmail.com ) for the full details.Have a nice day Thanks God bless.
Hi Terry, I wondered about your trip and all of the storms in the area - glad you made it home safely. I am not retired yet. I teach at Roadrunner High School which is all Special Ed for students with emoational disorders. I really like it and am not sure when I will retire. I know the area you live in very well. I too loved the small beach town atmosphere. Surely you like Juanita's! When I am in the area or my older son is visiting we always make a stop there. I lived in Sea Bluffe right on the water and I still miss it everyday. Luckily I visit my son in Del Mar frequently so I don't go into complete sea-withdrawal. Say hello to the waves for me...........Nancy
Hi Terry, I couldn't believe it when I read your page and you said you live in Leucadia! I had a condo there which we used every summer for about 10 years. I also lived there full time for a year and a half. I had to sell it and not a day goes by that I don't miss it. My son, David, lives in Del Mar and I still visit the area frequently. Great idea of yours to retire there. I'm glad you are doing well............Nancy

Dear Terry,
Thanks for the good words. I had lunch with Jerry "Thunderbird" Van Reussen last year and he told me that I owed him money. "What for?" "For teaching you how to play basketball in all those pick up games." I replied, "For the product you turned out, you don't deserved to be paid." Saw Gerry last summer and he said, "I haven't been called Baby Bird in 43 years." We sure had a lot of fun in those games' always played like it was the NBA playoffs.
That was a wonderful time to be at Arcadia. Thew best. Fink
